Top tips No.2

Tuesday, March 27th, 2012
Sensei MarcoEvery week one of our Sensei’s or senior students will be giving you their personal top tips for training.
This week food loving, yet super slim French man, Sensei Marco gives us his top tips:

1. Always do you best when you train, don’t be lazy – this is your worst enemy!
2. Listen to your Sensei
3. Don’t forget to stretch before AND after the class
4. If something looks hard, keep trying and remember that nobody can learn everything in a single lesson
5. Don’t forget to drink plenty of water
6. Make sure you eat properly, especially on training days
7. Smile, be friendly, training is always more enjoyable in a good atmosphere : )
8. Don’t be afraid to ask questions if you don’t understand something
9. Watch the higher grades when they train, you can learn a lot by watching the seniors
10. Lastly, don’t forget to move your head, move your shoulders when you punch and twist your foot when you kick!

See you in the Dojo! Sensei Marco

Kick boxing training tips No.1

Tuesday, March 6th, 2012
Jeanny LuongEvery week one of our instructors or senior students will be giving you their personal top tips for training.
Basically things they bear in mind when they are training, this week, one of our blue belts Jeanny, has got her top 5 tips for sparring:
1) Move your head
Don’t be a sitting duck and stand still in front of your opponent,  you should always be moving and moving  and making yourself a hard target
2) Attack more
As the famous saying goes, “Attack is the best form of defence”. If you spend all of your time on the defensive, you just making things much easier for your opponent
3) Side slip
When someone attacks with a skip in kick, a side slip punch is always a very effective technique as they go to launch the kick
4) Imagine the target
When form fighting or shadow boxing, always have that imaginary opponent in front of you, so that you have a focus for what you’re doing
5) Relax
This is tough one and takes time but as Bruce Lee says, “Flow like water..”
