September timetable changes!!

Monday, August 22nd, 2011

We think long and hard before changing our timetable, but in order to be able to offer you all the very best training we’ve had a think and squeezed in some new sessions…

From Monday September 5th, we are pleased to be able to offer 2 new seniors (red belts and above) classes to our members, these are on Mondays and Wednesdays at 8.30pm.

The new term for our Little Monkey and Junior members will run from Monday 5th September to Sunday 27th November. Also in November we’ll be having our second open competition for our junior members! Early December will also see our regular Senior (Blue/Brown/Black Belt) grading taking place. Some of the candidates are already in training!

An updated version of our timetable will be on the ‘Classes’ page of our website when September starts.

See you at the Dojo soon!

Kids Summer Camp and changes to morning class timetable

Wednesday, August 17th, 2011

The Summer Holidays are nearly over and we’re fast approaching the start of the new kids term here at TMAP. However we still have another week of our Kids Summer camp running next week – Monday 22nd to Thursday 25th August. There are spaces still available and if you wish to book a place for your child during these sessions you MUST pre-book with Sensei or call us at the Dojo on 020 75861222.

Also the Summer Camp means that during this week (Monday 22nd to Thursday 25th August) there will be NO morning lessons (10.30am session) next week. In place of these lessons we will be running workout lessons at midday MONDAY and WEDNESDAY of these weeks.  All abilities are welcome.

Evening lessons are unaffected by these changes.

BIG CONGRATULATIONS!

Sunday 24th July saw 3 of our most hardworking seniors demonstrate their knowledge and skills at our publilc grading.  Sensei Yvette successfully graded to Blue 3, Sensei Jon graded to Brown Belt and Sensei Heather gained her Black Belt.  It takes many years of discipline, very hard work and determination to reach these grades and so we’d like to extend our warmest congratulations to our Sensei’s.

Also on Sunday 24th, we had our VERY FIRST junior Black Belt grading.  Razik demonstrated a huge amount of skill and determination in his first public grading and successfully gained his Junior Black Belt.  We’d like to say how very pleased and proud we all are of Razik and all his achievements! Keep a close eye on our blog as we’ll be featuring Razik in our ‘Black Belt on the Spot’ article coming soon!

Summer is here and so is the TMAP Summer Party!

Sunday 7th August, we kick off at 11am in Highgate Woods with some softball and football, can’t make it at 11?  Well, do not fear! At 1pm the party moves to The Woodman Public House in Highgate for lunch.

For those of you that don’t know the area, we’ll be meeting at HIGHGATE underground station at 10.45 or at the playing field (Highgate woods) at 11.

ALL TMAP MEMBERS are invited and not only will you get the very best company, you also get a lunch with a drink (soft drink of beer).

Sensei on the Spot!

Monday, August 1st, 2011

This week’s Sensei is our very own kickboxing, drumming, Sensei Russell Cronk.

.

.

.

.

1) How long have you been involved in martial arts?

“It’s now over 20 years – where has the time gone?! I remember when I first started training and had done a grand total of 2 weeks kickboxing… I was so happy because I felt could honestly tell people that I ‘did’ martial arts!”

.

.

.

.

.

2) If you weren’t at TMAP where would you be?
“Playing the drums in a band. Check out this video of my drumming hero – P.C. Oops…”.

.

3) What do you do in your spare time?

“I try to relax – it’s not easy!”

.

.

.

.

.

4) What’s your favourite martial arts film?
“Kung Fu Hustle (except the soppy bits with his girlfriend)”

.

5) What’s your favourite snack?

“Popcorn”.

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

6) Is there a song/piece of music you HAVE to dance to?
“Hips don’t lie – Shakira – it’s a long story! Lol”.

.

7) How many push ups can you really do?

“More than Sensei William, which is enough for me ;-) “.

8) What annoys you?

“Rudeness”.

9) Sail or fly?

“Either – (I’d sail instead of use a very busy airport every time!)”.

.

.

.

.

.

10) What are your tips for staying TMAP fit?

“Don’t stop training – seriously!! Do less some days if your body is tired, but try to do something every day”.

11) If you had a superpower what would it be?

“The ability to fly”.

.

.

.

.

.

12) What’s it like being a Sensei?

“Being a Sensei is a big responsibility which I take very seriously, but it’s also a lot of fun. I’m very lucky to be doing something I love”

13) What’s the best piece of advice for a beginner at TMAP?

“Ask questions and watch the Black Belts train. Instructors love to help people who are enthusiastic!”

.

.

.And that sums up Sensei Russell’s answers!  If there is a Sensei or Senpai that you have a burning desire to know more about then leave a comment and we will track them down and get your answers!!
