Self defense classes – level 3

It’s almost time for the next of our TMAP ‘Beat the Bullies’, self defense classes. These classes have been filling up quickly but there are a handful of spaces left. If you are interested in booking your child into one of our popular self defense sessions then please contact us or speak to your Sensei or call us on 020 7586 1222

Each session is £10.

Dates for self defense courses – level 3:

Little Monkeys (5 to 7’s) on Saturday 26th May at 1.15pm
Juniors (8 to 10’s) on Saturday 23rd June at 1.15pm
Older juniors (11 to 14’s) Saturday 14th July at 1.15pm.

These courses are designed to build on the techniques learnt in the first two parts of our self defense courses, however, it is not essential to have attended these.

Seniors mid-year grading – coming soon!

We are fast approaching our seniors mid-year grading for blue belts and up.

If you’re interested in grading for Blue 1 or higher then make sure you speak to your Sensei about grading. Those who graded last Christmas for a blue belt should be ready to take their next grading – assuming you’ve been working hard that is!

Remember, senior gradings only happen twice a year and the standard is high. The grading incorporates basic techniques, attack combinations and pairs techniques followed by contact sparring (a minimum 3 rounds).

So make sure you know all of your grading stuff before you even ask your Sensei about grading… Photocopies of the various grades are available from reception so just ask the secretary if you’d like a copy.

If you do grade you’ll also feature on our special grading poster – with your specially awarded ‘grading nick name’!

New Sunday beginners class starting in May

Are you longing to join one of our brilliant beginners classes but can’t attend on a week day? Or perhaps you want to fit in another beginners class but you can only manage one lesson during the week…

If so, we have good news for you!

From next month TMAP will be adding a beginners class at 12pm on Sunday to our timetable.

Schools out… for Easter!

Our kids term has now finished, Easter eggs have been handed out and trophies and medals for term champions have been awarded too : )

Our next term (term 3) starts on Monday 30th April; parents, if you haven’t already signed your child up for next term then it’s advisable to do so quickly! We have waiting lists for most classes and any remaining spaces will be given to those on the waiting list.

Between now and start of next term, we are running drop-in classes for kids on a Wednesday and the timetable is as follows:

3pm Focused class (5 to 7’s and 8 to 10’s)

4pm Little Monkeys (5 to 7’s)

4.45pm Juniors (8 to 10’s)

5.30pm Juniors (11 to 14’s)

Again, booking is advisable for the Wednesday drop-in classes and you can do this by calling the Dojo on 020 7586 1222. So, until we see you again, have a great Easter and enjoy the chocolate!

TMAP inhouse competition

A big congratulations to everyone who participated in the tournament on Sunday. All the competitors, worked hard, showed great determination and fun was had by all.

The competition was split into different categories based on belt and sex, everyone who took part fought in at least 4 rounds, which is great for improving your sparring and for getting used to being put under pressure. Trophies and medals were awarded to the highest scorers but corny as it sounds, on the day everyone was a winner, as they all learnt a huge amount from taking part.

Our next competition will take place in July and as before it is open to all TMAP members of yellow 2 grade and above.

A special thanks to Sensei Phil and Cameron and to everyone else that helped out on the day.
